Iris

In the 1930’s the Iris was chosen the state flower of Tennessee by state lawmakers even though the Passion flower had been named state flower 14 years earlier by a state commission. In 1973 the state legislature orchestrated a compromise and named the Iris Tennessee’s state cultivated flower. These beauties are what are growing in my garden.
