Some bright cheery flowers for a grey day.
Finally found frost flowers ~ something I only have heard about here in Tennessee!
Frost flowers develop when air temperatures are freezing but the ground still is warm enough for the plant’s root system to be active. Plant juices flow from these roots up into the stem, where the cold air freezes them. As the moisture in the plant freezes, the ice crystals push out through the stem.
I’m starting my 4th year of the 52Frames weekly photography challenge. The first week is always a self portrait (which I HATE). This photo was taken when I was trying to take a photo of a bill to send to the insurance company from a car accident I had in October. I decided to use it for the challenge. And they say there’s no such thing as an accident!
The little red barn at Valley Acre Farm in Sparta holds a treasure trove of old wooden items.
Recently I spent a morning at Valley Acre Farm in Sparta, Tennessee to wander and take photos. This is the little red barn on the farm. I love the texture of the wood of old barns.
I recently was at Cheekwood Botanical Garden in Nashville to see the amazing Chihuly Exhibit.
